Meet Mrs. Vandermark

My Family

About Mrs. Vandermark

Hello! My name is Mrs. Vandermark, and I am extremely excited about getting to know all my new students. On top of being a teacher, I am a mom of three beautiful, yet crazy wild children. Kayden, my oldest, attends Fair Oaks, and is in the first grade. Kaya my oldest daughter is 4 and has survived many life threatening illnesses...all with a smile on her face. My youngest, Felicity is only 14 months old, and knows how to be NAUGHTY! My partner in crime, my husband, Will is also a teacher. He teaches at Columbia Elementary School as their Community Day School teacher. Each day we come home to two loving dogs, Bele and Bobo, two hungry cats, Bella and Bluey, and a fish named after his beautiful black coloring, which has now changed to gold! We live here in Oakdale and love visiting the parks and rivers. We spend a lot of our time outdoors fishing, swimming, hiking, riding bikes, taking trips in our boat, and camping. At home we enjoy building Legos, playing with dolls, watching the "educational" television shows, coloring, reading, and just being silly! I haven't always lived here in Oakdale. I was born in Palm Springs, CA, and travel down to Southern California every chance I get to visit with my mom and my dad.

Teaching Experience

I have been teaching for 8 years. For the past 7 years I have taught sixth grade here at Fair Oaks Elementary. Prior to teaching here in Oakdale, I taught on a Native American reservation teaching first and second grade. I have a BA is Women Studies and a Minor in Education from Humboldt State University. I also received my teaching credential from HSU in 2005. I currently serve on several of the district's committees and assist with many of the district's training. In 2010, I was named Teacher of the Year at Fair Oaks Elementary School.
