Dear Parents,

This year, your child will have the opportunity to be the “Gold Star of the Week”! While your child is the star, each day of the week will consist of an exciting event or activity to honor him or her to help us get know our special classmates.

Monday: Poster Share

The star student will be given a special poster the week before, and will bring this poster (filled out and colored) on Monday to start off his or her special week to share with the class at the morning meeting.

Tuesday: Talent Tuesday

The star student will come prepared to show off their talent to the class! Talent can be shown in the form of a live demonstration, s short video clip, or any type of item that proves their talent (example: picture).

Wednesday: Parent Letter

Parents, you will write a letter to the class telling us how special your child is to you. Send the letter in a sealed envelope to school with your child, and I will read the letter to the class at the Morning Meeting. The content of the letter is up to you, but you may want to choose from the following ideas:: describe funny stories about your child, write a silly or serious poem about your child, tell us some neat things we may not know about your child, send a silly or special picture with a letter describing the pictures, or write a short story with your child as the main character!

Thursday: Treasured Trinket

The Star Student will bring 3 special items from home to share with the class.  Students are encouraged to bring items that hold a special meaning rather than just a collection of toys.

Friday: Star Friends

Our Star Student will be presented with a friendship book created by his or her classmates.

I will let you know a week before it’s your child’s week to be the Gold Star student so that you can help his or her prepare. I hope your child enjoys their special week!
